This is a different genre to what I normally read because while it is a paranormal romance this book is more of a thriller, as it concentrates more on the crimes. When I checked this book was free on Amazon UK so if you like what you read then you can check it out here.
What she doesn’t want…is exactly what he needs.
Shunned and ridiculed all her life for something she can’t control, Samantha Blair hides her psychic abilities and lives on the fringes of society. Against her will, however, she’s tapped into a killer–or rather, his victims. Each woman’s murder, blow-by-blow, ravages her mind until their death releases her back to her body. Sam knows she must go to the authorities, but will the rugged, no-nonsense detective in charge of tracking down the killer believe her?
Detective Brandt Sutherland only trusts hard evidence, yet Sam’s visions offer clues he needs to catch a killer. The more he learns about her incredible abilities, however, the clearer it becomes that Sam’s visions have put her in the killer’s line of fire. Now Brandt must save her from something he cannot see or understand…and risk losing his heart in the process.
As danger and desire collide, passion raises the stakes in a game Sam and Brandt don’t dare lose.

This is the first book I have read by Dale Mayer and based on this book I would read another by her too. I will be the first person to admit I have no idea what the cover of this book is about, for me the girl on the cover in no way looks like the main character Sam but I guess that by the by because it’s the story that counts which is really good.
This book is about Sam who is psychic who is trying to survive her visions and she gets caught in a vision where she sees someone being killed. Unlike other psychics Sam ability is different actually has physical manifestations of any injuries inflicted on the victim and feels their pain too. It takes her about 20 minutes or so after coming out of a vision to heal her body. This one of the reasons she keeps away from people. It is also because she has been so mistrusted and mistreated before when she has tried to help the police that she’s had to move and start over, so she likes to keep to herself with her animals. Though Sam is a fighter so when she has a vision on the killer what can she do but contact the police to try and get the victim justice?
I liked Sam’s character, my heart did break for her too, I do not know how someone could keep picking themselves up after having visions like she does. I would have preferred more insight into Sam’s past, sure it was mentioned but it could have been a bit more detailed.
Brant was a good match for Sam. I’m glad he did not treat her as a complete nut job and kept his mind open even though he had doubts. It was sweet that Brant cared so much for his mother and we got to see that too. I would have liked to read more about Brant’s past or him as a person as he was a good character but there was scope for more development. The relationship was slowly building which is what I prefer, it was nice to see someone care for Sam and Sam coming to accept that someone does care for her.
What I would have liked though was an epilogue, I would have liked to see what Sam and Brant life would have been like a year or two later but still the end was still neatly wrapped up there were not loose ends.
“Don’t spend your life so afraid of trying and failing that you live alone. Take a chance let someone in your world”
This book is definitely worth a read so give a read while it is free, what do you have to lose?
