New blog – Sumslife101

I’ve been really bad and not posted anything on here for quite some time, the reason behind this is I haven’t been reading much (shock horror i know). I am in a reading slump/funk and I’m still not out of it. I’m rereading my favourite books to help me get out of it but I’ve already reviewed them on here. That’s why i’ve been AWOL. I’ve also been mega busy with work (my new job is stressful) and I’ve been on an amazing holiday to Walt Disney World Florida for 2 weeks. I do love blogging so I decided to set a new blog of all my other thoughts/review/hauls. Please feel free to check that out. Hopefully I will get back into book blogging so. I’m hoping to get out of my slump considering it’s lasted about 6 months!! Thank you to all you guys for sticking with me even though I haven’t been post. It means the world to me.

Hello all! via Welcome to sumslife101!! — Sumslife101

Making a TBR (To be Read) Jar

I have two major problems, I have too many books and I cannot stop buying new books. Whether these books are e-books or paperbacks/hardbacks. I will be the first to admit I may have a slight obsession with reading….

As I have mentioned in my previous posts I can spend too much on books sometimes, and so while surfing through the posts on Instagram I happened upon a picture of a money jar (Sorry I do not remember who’s Instagram this was on) which inspired me to create my own book fund and TBR jar. I am really indecisive of what to read next so by making a TBR jar I will have to read whichever book name I pick out. (I maybe only pick 2 books a month or something but at least it will decrease my TBR pile of books)

I thought I would do a little DIY blog post on how I got to my final product.

First of all I purchased small jars. I brought 4 spice jars from Asda, but only used 2 jars. Then I decided what writing I wanted to have on the jars, I settled on ‘To be Read’ and lyrics from the Disney film Tangled, ‘So I’ll read a book or maybe two or three’. I just typed this up in word (See picture 1)

Then I print of the word document and gathered all the necessary items such a two jars, scissors, pen, sellotape and paper (See picture 2). I ended up using blue tac instead of sellotape.

I cut out the phrases, used blue tac to stick them on to the jar. Then I used my little Owl notebook to write out some of the books in my TBR pile and cut these out to add into my jar (See picture 3)

Finally I added these little notes into my TBR Jar.

The final product can be seen below:

Book Fund Jar & TBR Jar

The jar on the left is my book fund jar, what i’m going to try to do is save my money in here and then spend that on my books and the other is my TBR jar. I will again try and pick two books a months out of this so it reduces my TBR pile and helps me be decisive.

Make your own TBR jar or book fund jar. If you do don’t forget to leave a comment for me so I can check it out! 🙂

Happy Reading everyone!
