New book unboxing – Forbidden Planet

My excitement knows no bounds today as I receive my first order from forbidden planet which contained one of my favourite author’s Nalini Singh books. I love her guild hunter series and have been reading these books for years, and will continue to read the series as there are more books planned. Imagine my disappointment when I learned she was coming to London, which is only an hour and a half drive away from where I live to sign Archangels Enigma at Forbidden Planet but I couldn’t go because of work. I know the joys of working life. However Forbidden Planet the wonderful people that they were selling the signed books for people who wanted them and couldn’t make it. I already own archangels enigma but I couldn’t turn a signed book by one of my favourite authors down. So I ordered it and it finally came today!

So I thought I’d share the unboxing.

Forbidden Planet unfortunately don’t have signed copies of the book left but if you live in the Uk and are interested in purchasing the normal book from them, then click here. This is one of my best book buys this year, it going to be a prized possession on my bookshelf. I paid for this book and the post is not sponsored or anything 🙂

Happy Reading! Has anyone else purchased any new signed book or any book you’re excited about recently?

Don’t you hate it when..

Someone spoils a book or film for you by telling you the ending or a major spoiler?

I did a blog post earlier on the fact that I was ordering Me before you by JoJo Moyes as I saw the film trailer and decided the book was a must read. Well I was discussing at work my new book purchase and how I was looking forward to reading it and how from what i gathered from the trailer I thought it would make me cry. The person I was talking to then proceed to tell me how she had heard about the book, thought about buying it but decided to check the story out on wikipedia instead and then told me the entire ending. THE ENTIRE ENDING AND TWIST! I was like what!!

My face was literally like:

On the plus side the book arrived and I love the cover. My copy just arrived from book depository. There were other covers but I liked this one the best. (Ignore the copy of Lean in 15! I thought i’d give the recipes a go as it was on offer)

On the downside I now have the book but I know the entire story essentially and so don’t want to pick the book up yet.

I mean really why must people give spoilers? Has this ever happened to you?

Time to Play TBR Book Tag!

I was tagged by Sara. if you’re not following or have not checked her blog out then your are missing out! I was tagged quite sometime agao so I apologise it’s taken me so long to get round to this! Hope you all enjoy it though!

1. How do you keep track of your TBR list?

The short answer is I do not mange this well. I have an ever growing pile by my bed and at the bottom of my bookshelf that I stare at every day and think omg I have to read these before I buy more books. It does not usually work that way which is why I have so many books on my TBR list. I do try to keep the names of all my unread book in a TBR Jar but I am a mood reader so I usually pick up a book depending on what mood I am in.

2. Is your TBR list mostly print or ebooks?

Ebooks. From above you can see I have many print books on my TBR but I have about 150 ebooks also on my TBR! Yikes I know and I will get round to reading them all soon.

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR list to read next?

My Mood or Social Media. For my mood it just depends on what mood I am in and if there’s a book on my TBR to match it. Otherwise if I have heard loads and loads on a book from other people that has been sitting on my TBR for ages then I decide to pick it up. I decided to read Fangirl a while ago since I had hear so much about it and it had been on my TBR for a couple of months

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

4. What’s been on your TBR list the longest?

There are actually a number of books that have been there for over two/three years but the old ones would be the Chronicles of Naria Series. I brought this about 4 years ago and still have not read them…

5. Pick a book you recently added to your TBR list.

IMG_20150324_200224[1]

I heard so many good things about this and it’s kind of another fairy tale retelling which I am really interesting in reading after finishing Cinder.

6. Pick a book that’s on your TBR list strictly because of its beautiful cover.

IMG_20150303_183907[1]

I cheated as I have two books. Sister Red and Half Bad.

7. Pick a book on your TBR list that you’re apprehensive about reading.

IMG_20150417_193926[1]

The Fault in Our Stars, not because I think it will be too sad but because I did not like Looking For Alaska and so am thinking this book may disappoint me too.

8. Pick an unpublished book on your TBR list that you’re excited for.

Highland Ever After – Maya Banks

9. Pick a book on your TBR list that basically everyone has read but you.

IMG_20150406_232937[1]

I’m sure not everyone has read this but so many people I have on Instagram has and I have not. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

10. Pick a book on your TBR list that everyone recommends to you.

IMG_20150303_183907[1]

Elanor & Park has been recommended to me so many times!

11. Pick a book on your TBR list that you’re dying to read.

The Jewel by Amy Ewing

12. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

As of today, the grand total is… 20 Books! I should use Goodreads more because I keep paper lists and lists on my computer/phone rather than Goodreads.

Tag some people!

If you like this tag then I tag you!

What books are on your TBR list? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? If so, what did you think of them?

My new bookshelf

I know I promised to post this and I finally have got round to doing it. I am still trying to organise my books in a way that I’m happy about. The main problem is I have too many because I have been collecting them since I was 17 years old so I have alot. You all seen my previous set up, if not then click here.

So this is the overview of my bookshelf, not all of it can be seen in this picture so I will post some more to show my shelves. You may notice that I like to keep my little figures on display with my books. With the organisation of the bookshelf I tried to organise the books by subject but then I gave up and started to organised it but colour and size aswell.

IMG_20150113_181627[1]

So right on top of my bookshelf I keep all of the stuffed toys, these I have accumulated over the years. Some have been given to me as presents and some I purchased myself. I also have some glow in the dark stars and planets on it because when I turn of my lights I like how it makes the bookshelf stand out.

The top shelf is sorted out by the subject, and that is vampires. So on here I have my Vampire Diaries books, Twilight series, House of Night series, The Sookie Stackhouse Series and my Vampire Knight Manga books.

The second shelf I sorted by genre which was Fantasy. On here I have my Hush Hush series, Dream Catcher series, Blue is for Nightmares series,  Divergent series, The Inheritance Cycle and The Mortal Instruments. You can see I have some books that come in the Fantasy genre but I have had to stack on top of the current books because there is not enough space.

IMG_20150220_195343[1]

The third shelf is sorted by the Fantasy genre again. It has my Chronicles of Narnia books, Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games series, The Lord of the Rings series and all my Maria V Snyder books.

The forth shelf is a bit cluttered and mismatched. I sorted this shelf by colour and put all my remaining fantasy books on here. I also have some random first books of a series on here too. So I have all my J D Robb books, Sarah Dessen Books, His Dark Materials, my other paperback copy of The Hunger Games and Darkest Powers Series.

IMG_20150220_195400[1]

Lastly I just put all my remaining books on this shelf. As you can see you cannot actually see the books on this shelf because they are covered by other stacks of books. These books you can see in these piles are the ones I keep promising to do my haul about, I will get round to do it some time soon, I promise! So this bookshelf still has the same problem of being a bit too small but that’s my fault because I keep buying more books. I really need to get some more self control.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my bookshelf!

London Charity Book Haul! ft a London Blog

I’m sure you are all wondering where  I have been for the last couple of days and why I have not done a new post. The answer to this my friends is that I have been to London. I went to see the Lion King Musical (OMG it was amazing!), Listened to Richard Armitage speak about him role in The Crucible play at The Old Vic, visited Kings Cross Station to take a photo at Platform 9 3/4, went into the Harry Potter merchandise shop there and went shopping where I also purchased new books. I had limited internet access and so only managed to reply to a couple of comments instead of posting on my blog.

I know you all now are mentally sighing because I purchased new books even though I am on a book buying ban, but the reason behind my purchases were that they are all second hand books that I brought from Charity shops and they were too good of a deal to pass up. None of the books are new and by buying the books when I saw them I feel like I will have saved money in the long run as I do not need to buy them as new.

I know this is a book blog and this blog will have details on my new buys but this post will be a little different because I will also just put some pictures of my London adventurers in too. Hope you all do not mind :)!

IMG_20140904_201701[1]

These are all my new purchases! Switched, Torn and Ascend by Amanda Hocking. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. Everything and the Moon by Julia Quinn. Die for Me and Until I Die by Amy Plum. A 500 cupcakes recipe book. All of these are second hand from charity shops and none cost me more that £2.49. Some people do not like talking about the money spent, but I’m happy to share the bargains. I would like to say I would have purchased these books are full price but as I saw them in a charity shop I decided to buy them.

Switched, Torn and Ascend were £2.49 each

Beautiful Disaster was £2.25

Ruin and Rising was £1.00

Everything and the Moon was £2.49

Die for Me and Until I Die were £2.00 each

500 Cupcakes recipe was £1.50

I’m looking forward to reading all these books, Die for me I have already read but didn’t own and this was going back 3/4 years ago.

On to what else I did in London. I went to Platform 9 3/4 to catch the Hogwarts Express to go see Ronald Weasley. If you get a chance to go to London make sure you check this out! It was awesome.

IMG_20140903_110541[1]

I also purchased some Harry Potter merchandise in the shop they have at Kings Cross St Pancras.

IMG_20140904_201835[1]

Not a clear and good picture but I went to see the Lion King as well. I would defiantly recommend the Musical. Go watch it!

I’ve had an amazing couple of days and am back home now. Hopefully that means my posts will be more regular again!

Hope you all enjoyed this blog post!

Book Haul from The Works UK

I feel like I talk about money alot on my blog but I have reasons for this. I love books and I personally like to buy them (rather than borrow them from the library) so I am always looking out got deals just incase. The books do not have to be on offer for me to buy them, but it makes me feel like my money has gone further if I do get a good deal. Anyway while shopping on my lunch break at work I popped in to The Works and found a really good deal. I actually had to buy my books from the Works UK website as they did not have the complete Glass series in the shop but I thought I’d check online and behold they did.

So I have decided I actually need to put a effort into not buying any more books for the moment. My bookshelves are overflowing and I have a big TBR pile. Hopefully this will be my last book haul type post in a while (need more willpower!!!)

On to my book haul! I managed to get 7 books, completely new for £12.00 (14.50 if you include postage) from The Works. They are newish releases so I was very impressed with this. Honestly go check the website out if you live in the UK!

Book Haul!

Book Haul!

The books I purchased was Storm Glass, Spy Glass and Sea Glass by Maria V Snyder. Scent of Magic and Touch of Power also by Maria V Snyder and Alice in Zombieland and Alice Through the Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter…..Now I just need to find a place to put all these new books haha 😛

The haul has mostly Maria V Snyder books in and there is a reason for this that I will talk about in another blog post! Look out for it 😀

Happy Reading!

I need to stop buying books!

This is the part where I confess I ignored the book buying ban my mum has put me on. My dad has been hassling me for years to read Animal Farm by George Orwell. So I went on to Waterstones to buy it and I ended up with all of these aswell. I have no defence other than I’m weak willed when it comes to buying more books, I like buying and reading books.

And I brought more books...My haul from Amazon and Waterstones

And I brought more books…My haul from Amazon and Waterstones

So the books I purchased are Animal Farm by George Orwell, The Delirium Trilogy by Lauren Oliver, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J R R Tolkien and Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. The only hardback book I purchased was Rebel Belle, the others are paperbacks. The reason for buying this book as a hardback was because the paperback does not come out till next year and I needed this in my life now!
