I was really excited to read this book, the synopsis sounded amazing and I love scarred hero books. This though did not live up to the expectations I had.
Warning this book has mature content
Will a week of seduction…
Desperate to save her sister’s life, Sidonie Forsythe has agreed to submit herself to a terrible fate: Beyond the foreboding walls of Castle Craven, a notorious, hideously scarred scoundrel will take her virtue over the course of seven sinful nights. Yet instead of a monster, she encounters a man like no other. And during this week, she comes to care for Jonas Merrick in ways that defy all logic—even as a dark secret she carries threatens them both.
…Spark a lifetime of passionate surrender?
Ruthless loner Jonas knows exactly who he is. Should he forget, even for a moment, the curse he bears, a mere glance in the mirror serves as an agonizing reminder. So when the lovely Sidonie turns up on his doorstep, her seduction is an even more delicious prospect than he originally planned. But the hardened outcast is soon moved by her innocent beauty, sharp wit, and surprising courage. Now as dangerous enemies gather at the gate to destroy them, can their new, fragile love survive?
I didn’t love or dislike this book, my feelings of this book were a bit meh and I thought the book was ok. The basis of this book is Sidonie decides to take her sister’s Roberta place and spend 7 nights with Jonas, as Roberta owns a gambling debt to him which she cannot pay. Jonas demands payment by staying with him for 7 nights as Roberta is his cousins wife who cannot look at Jonas’s scarred face and there is no love lost between her husband and Jonas. Sidonie and Roberta come up with a plan where Sidonie will take Roberta’s place to be with Jonas as if Roberta’s husband finds out she has cheated on him with Jonas he would kill her. I have to admit I found it odd that at first Sidonie was fine with a plan where she would have to sleep with a stranger for 7 days for her sister. When Sidonie arrives in Roberta’s stead Jonas decides he will seduce Sidonie and make her want him rather than force her to sleep with him.
I found Sidonie’s character inconsistent, at first she was enjoying Jonas’s attention then literally 1 minute later she hated it and thought Jonas had tricked her into allowing him to touch her. I mean sorry what? The man has been upfront about what he wants and you cannot let him think he’s tricking you if your allowing his touch? This really confuses me, I understand that Sidonie was a virgin and she she had a hard time accepting her feelings and acknowledging that she can feel lust, but I thought she took it too far.
Jonas was not much of a memorable character either, I have just recently finished this book but cannot think of one point that stood out about him. Jonas annoyed me less that Sidonie, I preferred him as a character. I cannot say more about supporting chracters as this book literally revolved around Sidonie, Jonas and a bit of Roberta.
Will I be continuing this series? Unfortunately not. If it sounds like your cup of tea give it a go!
