No Rest for the Wicked – Kresley Cole (Immortals After Dark Book 2)

I really enjoyed rereading this book. Sebastian is such a brilliant character, I love him. This was a really good read, I personally think it’s not as great as A Hunger Like No other (I have a weakness for werewolves) but it’s defiantly a must read book! Usually book 2 does not live up to the hype, I think this book does though. I know the books can be read as standalones but I want to read all the books because I like it when the same character appear in different book.

The cover to this book is also very Mills & Boons. I would not read this if it was not a ebook. I would probably be too mortified to read it in public otherwise.

Warning this is an adult book, it contains mature content, recommended for 18+ due to sex scenes

Synopsis:

A vampire soldier weary of life…

Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire—a nightmare in his mind—against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.

A valkyrie assassin dispatched to destroy him…

When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow—accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever she encounters Sebastian, her feelings—particularly lust—emerge multiplied. For the first time, she’s unable to complete a kill.

Competitors in a legendary hunt…

The prize of the month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, and Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity—as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world—to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when forced to choose between the vampire she’s falling for and reuniting her family, how can Kaderin live without either?

Rating: 4 Stars

The synopsis of this book pretty much sums it up, I do not want to say too much to give anything away. What I will say though is at the start of the book when Sebastain believes he has no reason to live, it really gets to me. He just too sweet, he deserves to be happy. What I like about Sebastian is he is a gentleman with a little bit of a wicked side. He is shy and endearing but also can take control and knows what he wants. Kaderin was a well developed character, she was not the shy retiring type at all, she knew what she wants and knew she had to try and get it. The reason this is a 4 star is at times Kaderin annoyed me, I think she was a bit too harsh with Sebastian, but then I also used to think she has hated vampires for 1000 years, which helped to make it better. I know I had conflicting feeling about how Kederin treated Sebastian. I mean no one can change their mind that easily if they have hated something for that long so I kind of understand.

I would like to say that the sex scenes in here I felt were very explicit, some of things actually made me blush! If you don’t like that sort of thing just skip it, this book actually has a relationship and action going on so you have to read it. It not some mindless read just full of sex scenes like other books that I will not name. This brings me to the next point the relationship, there is an actual relationship in this book. It’s not the oh you are you mate so I have to love you and we belong together with no communication going on. Sebastian recognizes that Kaderin is his bride but does not fall in instant love with her, lust yes and wanting to build a relationship, sure but no instant love. Sebastian and Kaderin actually talk to each other, I know I was shocked too when I first read this. It’s just so refreshing to read about a couple who communicated and try to build a relationship that would last even if you took away the fact that they were destined to be together. I love that Sebastian does not try to change Kederin but tries to accept her the way she is so they can make their relationship work. Again it was nice to see some of the other characters appear in this book, I love Nix! She’s the best I hope there is a book on her.

This book has an Alpha male who is ok with expressing his feeling and just just too totally amazing with a kick ass heroine who is defiantly not a pushover. If you like the sound of that read this book!

Happy Reading!
